You have spent days and created a wonderful presentation, but this time when you click on save, ‘PowerPoint found an error that it can’t correct’ error pops up. Ever been in such a situation? If yes, then you know how annoying it can be. You try saving it again and again, but the error persists.
We understand that it can be extremely frustrating to see such error messages especially when you’ve worked so hard on something. In order to help you troubleshoot this error, we’ve compiled a list of some useful solutions in this article.
Solution 1: Save the file as PPT instead of PPTX
The error message reads ‘PowerPoint found an error that it can’t correct. Save your presentations, quit and then restart PowerPoint’. When you follow this error message and try to save your file, the error will not let you save your file.
But one thing you can try is to save your presentation as a PPT instead of a PPTX. This is found to work in some cases and by far the easiest solution.
Solution 2: Compress pictures used in the presentation
The large size of pictures in the presentation could be causing the error ‘PowerPoint found an error that it can’t correct’. So, if this is the case, it may help to compress the pictures. To do so, click on a picture and in the ‘Picture Tools/Format’ tab, select ‘Compress Pictures’. In the next step, choose either ‘220ppi’ or ‘150ppi’ as this selection will retain the quality of the picture. Once this is selected, try saving the image. If it works, the error is resolved. However, if you are not able to save it, proceed to the next step.
Also, look through your slides and check if you have an ink drawing. If you do, right click on it and select ‘Paste as picture’. Then try saving the PPT. This should help you resolve the error but if it persists, proceed to the next step.
Solution 3: Clear out corrupted pictures
If none of the above solutions help you, there is a possibility that your pictures are corrupt and hence the error. In that case, delete the picture/s after your last successful save. (This is the picture/s that is probably corrupt.)
Then try saving the file. Ideally, you should be able to since the corrupted pictures are out of the way now.
