Is it possible to recover data after error message ‘The file or directory is corrupt’?
When above situations encounters, you can make use of manual method provided by Windows. Here is the procedure:
- Click Start and then type “Run” on the search bar
- Type “chkdsk /f <drive>:” (without quotation marks), where <drive> is the letter of the drive on which the damaged file/folder exists and then click “OK”
CHKDSK automatically tries to fix the problem after you use above method. But you should wait till process gets complete as it may take from several minutes to hours to finish. However, if the corruption is severe, then CHKDSK may fail to fix such error. In such situation, you can make use of Yodot Recovery software to recover your files back.
