Today I’ve done a disaster, while deleting few listed out files from Server system I accidentally shift deleted other files. I don’t want my boss to know this misfortune of mine. Can anyone let me know how to recover shift deleted files in Windows Server 2008 computer? Please help.”

Server operating systems are quite different among all other Microsoft operating systems. Windows Server 2008 / Win2K8 is amongst globally used OS for Server computers. It enables efficient handling of internet hosting, databases, networking and other functionality on servers that are connected with multiple client systems in business organization. For this, it includes many advanced features like BitLocker, networking stack, reporting tools, improved recovery methods and so on. Though client system users cannot alter data in Windows Server 2008 there are times wherein files may get deleted from it, like:

  • Mistakenly choosing wrong files while erasing unwanted files from Win2K8 system
  • Erasing shared files from client/ local system will erase it from Server 2008 computer too
  • Unauthentic user access may sometimes end up in deletion of useful files due to user mishaps

In these scenarios, if files were deleted using Shift+del keys then it is manually not possible to bring back those erased files. Because, use of Shift+del keys will cause the files to bypass Recycle Bin folder. But, the files will be still intact on Win2K8 system hard drive beyond user access. So, if no new files are added on to this storage drive then shift deleted files can be recovered easily.
