Recover Data after Windows Re-installation

There are mainly two scenarios where you will lose your hard drive data after or during OS re-installation. One is, when you perform clean installation. As re-installation of Windows operating system offers two options to choose from, i.e. "Upgrade" and "Custom" and if you choose custom option then it will install the OS but will erase all your programs, settings and files. Hence, leaving you with a completely new operating system and a formatted hard drive.

Steps of recovery

  • It is better and highly recommended to backup hard drive data before OS re-installation
