Extract Files when USB is not Recognized in Windows 8

“A friend of mine brought her USB drive which consists of her college project report and entire semester's notes. Step 1: Uninstall and Reinstall USB drive

  • On start screen,click Windows and X keys from keyboard and choose select Device Manager
  • Now locate Universal Serial Bus controllers driver
  • Then right click on USB drive icon and press Uninstall and restart your computer
  • After restarting your Windows 8 desktop, USB drive will automatically be installed
  • Connect USB drive through port and check whether it responds, if still not recognized then move to next method

Step 2: Choose Map network drive

  • Connect USB drive Windows 8 system. Open My computer and check whether it detects any device
  • If not press on Map network drive option and choose a drive that is not in use on Windows 8 OS and hit on browse
  • Then user may find USB drive connected to computer
  • Later, restart Windows 8 computer and check for USB drive on My computer whether it is recognized
