Even if, you are a Windows user then you don’t need to be disappointed. Since you can enjoy all the entertainment that iTunes offers even on your PC.

But, the iTunes program has a big UI problem. It is damn easy to delete a playlist from your iTunes and once it’s deleted the action cannot be undone! Apart from this, there exist many other situations where your iTunes files can be lost or get deleted.

Causes for iTunes File Loss or Deletion:

  • Accidentally deleting playlist when removing unwanted files from iTunes

  • If the iTunes gets affected by virus or malware infection, then entire files present in iTunes may get deleted or become inaccessible

We can find many other numerous reasons for the loss or deletion of files from iTunes, apart from the above listed. And, when the accidental events happened, the most important task for you is to restore iTunes files which are deleted or lost. But, how to do it? Well, here we show you two easy ways of restoring iTunes files.

1. Restore iTunes Files from the Previous iTunes Libraries:

Step 1: Close iTunes (turn off iTunes in the Cloud; if you are using it) and jump to the Previous iTunes Libraries folder.

Previous iTunes Libraries folder path:

  • Mac: From the Menu, select Go -> Home -> Music -> iTunes > Previous iTunes Libraries
  • Windows: Go to \Users\username\Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Libraries

Step 2: Find iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml files (I.e. files with an extension .itl , and .xml) dated prior to one the last time you updated your iTunes.

Step 3: Rename those two files, rename the previous version to iTunes Library.itl, copy it to the main iTunes folder and restart your iTunes.
