Extract Text Files from SD Card

I have saved most of my important text files in SD card. To access them I connected SD card to Windows system and gave command to transfer text files from SD card to desktop using Cut and Paste option. Unfortunately, my computer froze by showing blank screen due to unknown reason. So I restarted the PC and checked for text files, To my shock!!!
