Resolve Photoshop Error Cannot Save File Larger than 2GB

I have a PSD file on which I’ve been working on for many months. This week I got a new computer; when I open this PSD file on my new system, I am not able to save it as a PSD. The file size according to Windows Explorer is 600MB, wWhereas in Photoshop CC’s the document size displayed at the bottom of the document Window is 288.4M/1.77GB. Yet when I try to save this PSD file on my new computer, I get this error: “Error Photoshop cannot save PSD file more than 2GB”.

I have been working on this document for the last several months on my old computer; I didn’t have a problem in saving it. But now on my new computer, I am unable to save this PSD file. I had copied all of my preferences files from the old computer to the new and I don’t see any settings that are different between two computers. Can anyone please help me out in this situation? I will be thankful to them.

If you do a lot of Photoshop image manipulation on large high-resolution images, you may eventually run into the 2GB limit for saving Photoshop files. This is especially true if you like to work with a lot of layers. While saving such huge Photoshop files you may encounter error as mentioned above.

Adobe’s new Large Document Format (PSB) adds support for Photoshop documents larger than 2GB. The document you save in this way cannot be opened in earlier versions of Photoshop, but they can be opened in latest version of Photoshop CS and above versions. In order to use the Large Document Format option, you’ll have to open Photoshop’s file handling preferences and turn the feature on. Once the option is activated in preferences, the Large Document Format becomes an option in your standard Photoshop save dialog box.
