“Please someone help me to overcome the issue that I am facing!!!! Actually my computer’s C drive was displaying in red color indicating that it has reached maximum size. Since D drive had more free space, I intended to move those files to D drive. Upon selecting few files, I have clicked on ‘Copy’ option, so that I can delete them later from C drive after successfully pasting them to D drive. However, before I could paste copied files to the desired location, I have deleted them. Those files are not present in my computer and as its size was very big, they did not get transferred to Recycle Bin also. Is there any possibility that will help me to regain copied files from my computer?”

A basic but important feature that every users opt while using a computer is “Copy” option. This action will allow you to easily move data from one location to another. Windows computer facilitate users to copy as many files as they want. But as explained in above situation, copied files may accidentally get deleted before you paste them to another location. Generally when you copy a file, it will be saved to clipboard and transferred to preferred location upon pasting. If you erase the files before transferring them to another location, then they will not be saved anywhere and gets deleted immediately from your computer. But this will apply only when you use “Shift + Delete” keys or when the size of deleted file is very large. The files will be still present in “Recycle Bin” if you use only “Delete” option. Also, if any interruptions occur when you were copying files to required location, then there may be the possibility of losing them.

Apart from above instances, copied files might also get deleted if you use non secured third party utility to copy files. Generally Windows system is built in with “Copy” option and you can use it to transfer any file or application. However the copying process takes long time when you have large amount of files to transfer. So, many users download third party utility software to copy their files quickly. However, usage of unauthorized applications where you may observe your PC just randomly restarted and as a result copied files got lost instead of pasting them to the preferred location.
