'My Computer' not Displaying Externally Connected Hard Disk

Written by Lucy John on April 18, 2023

“A while ago, I copied a bunch of pictures and other files from my old Mac machine onto the WD external hard disk. Then, I plugged this removable disk into my HP laptop running on Windows 7. Windows recognizes the hardware and displays it under Control Panel. However, I am not able to view the hard drive under “My Computer”. So, how can I access my files on the external hard drive? Why is it not showing up in My Computer?”

In general, externally connected devices should automatically appear under “My computer” when you connect them to your system. Yet, at times you may struggle to plug in and out your removable device waiting for it to show up under My Computer and end up not being successful in doing so.
